Chamrousse Ski Trip

This former Olympic ski resort is famous for hosting the 1968 downhill giant slaloms on which Jean-Claude won gold. The resort is divided into three bases; Recoin at 1650m, Chamrousse at 1700m and Roche Beranger at 1750m. There are spectacular views from the highest lift that reaches 2550m, and a mixture of the high altitude and the snow cannons on the lower pistes ensure that the snow conditions are generally good throughout the season.

As the resort is split up into separate parts, so indeed is the skiing, beginners and intermediates will enjoy the many green and blue runs reached from the chairlifts at Roche Bernager. Whilst the terrain above Le Recoin, being steep and varied, offers more choice for better skiers, the off piste also has much to offer the experts being both plentiful and relative hazard-free. Of the 77km of downhill piste, much is below the tree line so those who particularly like to ski through the trees will not be disappointed. Chamrousse is also great for boarders and the area has much to offer. There is a terrain park with half pipe for free styling and lots of wide, easy runs above Roche Bernager are ideal for cruising and carving.

There are also plenty of après ski activities to keep your group busy such as ice skating, a cinema, an indoor swimming pool as well as the many restaurants, shops and cafés. All of this makes Chamrousse the perfect resort for school groups.
