Schladming Ski Trip

With the regions grand reputation for hosting events the old valley town of Schladming you certainly can expect top-class skiing. Famed during the 1982 Alpine Ski World Championships, the Austrian resort of Schladming is now due to host the 2013 event. Located at the foot of the Planai Mountain Schladming town (745m) is the centre of the resorts four connected mountains.

The mountains Hauser Kaibling (2015m) and Planai (1895m) are linked at altitude, while the two other linked mountains Hochwurzen (1850m) and Reiteralm (1860m) are connect at valley level. The resort has 91 lifts, and 175km of pistes so there are plenty of slopes to keep skiers busy. Schladming is ideal for the intermediate skier as the majority of runs are red, 61% are red, while 29% are blue and only 10% are black.

The town of Schladming has a pleasant main square with shops, restaurants and bars. It has a sports centre and tennis halls close to the centre. Gondolas and chairlifts connect the town with the slopes so if staying in the town access to the pistes is easy.
